Hey Guys, I really enjoy seeing what Ya'll are doing. Looks like great fun and comaradery. Anyway guys, I have this old bike that is probably from the 30s. I have tried to find something like it online, but there isn't a lot out there on 16" bikes. I think it is very unique. I bought and used it as a prop on a local TV show. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in trying to get it to working order and possibly set it around the trails. ... See MoreSee Less

New post (Leaf Blowing) has been published By MTN Bike on www.southsidetrailblazers.com/leaf-blowing/ Thank goodness were at the end of the leaf blowing season but I thought we should point out a few things about blowing you may not know. First off THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HAVE BLOWN LEAVES THIS YEAR! MLT Anglers CR and Woolwine are in great shape thanks to the Tail Teams. Remember, trails dont build or maintain themselves so next time your shredding down the trail on a nice sunny day feeling euphoric you might want to consider contacting the trail bosses and asking how you can help
There are lots of theories on leaf blowing, to blow or not to blow. Here is Southwest Va and especially our 4 trails we like to keep them clear mostly for safety reasons. Nothing worse than riding down a trail and encountering a hidden parallel root, stump or rock and ending up with a broken collar bone, true story.

When blowing leaves it is important to “blow gently”. What this means is only blow the tread with the blower at a low speed as to not blow dirt off. Everyone has seen those trails that are sunk in the ground and hold water, some of this was probably caused by aggressive over blowing.
Only blow a narrow tread, dont blow 3′ on either side of the singletrack. Over time these widened trails become even wider because of folks taking the “short line”. We all like single track for one reason, because its single track.
When encountering a “wet Spot” aggressively blow the leaves at the lowest point on the downhill side as to create a channel for the water to run off. This may require tools and it can be reported to the trail team to make this happen.
Dont leave piles of leaves along the edge of he single track, “feather” out those with the blower but again, dont blow the trail to wide just blend them into the forest.
Always clear leaves from technical areas especially rock gardens, skinnies, jumps and other “tricky” areas. Remember, we do this for safety reasons.

Folks please drive slowly on the gravel road leading to the trailhead. There are several families that live on the road and they have children and pets that play on the road. I have received calls about folks driving externally fast. Please keep it under 10 miles per hour but preferable 5. Thank you ... See MoreSee Less

This doesn't happen often but it is here for a limited time. Jennings Creek that runs through MLT has been replaced with Jennings Creek Ice Park. Ride your bike where it has never been riden before, on top of the water. Do be careful, and at your own risk. Will not have time to pull you out to safety cause someone has to be taken pictures!!!! ... See MoreSee Less
