This weekend is going to be awesome at Mountain Laurel Trails. Master trail builder Berndie Lunsford will be in the house with his ditch witch performing his magic. Anyone interested in coming out contact Bob at the number below.
Berndie, an avid Mountain Biker and master trail builder has been designing and build trails all over the region for many years. Some of his local accomplishments include many of the trails at Anglers Ridge in Danville as well as tons of work at places like Carvins Cove in Roanoke. Berndie has an uncanny sense of how a trail should go, its path, destination, and its route making his trails both challenging and interesting for all riders no matter their experience level.
Berndie contacted me a couple of weeks ago and offer to pitch in at the trails and needless to say I was flattered and VERY excited. Berndie and Charles Davidson (Berndies right hand man) came out to the trails and scoped out the terrain offering some super suggestions on paths and directions. I had flagged out most of the trail and did a simple rough cut through the thick areas. When I asked Berndie what he thought he said “the trails were laid out pretty well but when I get going my eyes tell me where to go” to which I replied “ok I will hang on and go for the ride!” :)
